“"Alex Austin builds songs like sturdy houses, and he sings with a voice of liquid rose-gold."” - Dan Rickabus (The Crane Wives, Moss Manor, and many more)
Bio
Alex Austin is an Americana artist blending blues, rock, country, and soul. His music is shaped by influences like Eric Clapton, John Hiatt, B.B. King, and George Strait, reflecting both his rural upbringing and deep passion for storytelling. Raised in Wayland, MI, Alex picked up guitar at 15, inspired by his father's love of classic rock and the emotive power of blues. His musical journey was transformed at Blue Star Music Camp, where he first performed his original songs, fueling his passion for songwriting and performance.
In 2015, Alex formed Deerfield Run, a band that quickly became a strong voice in West Michigan’s music scene with its blend of Americana, blues, and rock. The band’s debut album, Deerfield Run (2017), was praised for its heartfelt lyrics and dynamic performances. Their 2020 follow-up, Reckless, delved deeper into personal and introspective themes, gaining critical acclaim for its emotional depth.
In 2024, Alex launched his solo career with Nobody’s Home. Co-produced with Greg Baxter of Second Story Sound, the album is a raw and intimate exploration of love, loss, and self-discovery. With his signature bluesy guitar and soulful vocals, Alex invites listeners into a world of reflection, vulnerability, and personal growth.
Alex’s ability to craft emotionally resonant songs has earned him a loyal following. His music, characterized by honest storytelling and deep emotional connection, continues to impact audiences. As he embarks on this new phase of his career, Alex remains committed to creating songs that speak to the heart of the human experience. His journey, both personal and musical, is just beginning.
